Contemporary art in Northern Ireland now thrives in a wide variety of locations - galleries, artists’ studios and workshops, public spaces and buildings.

ART NOW gallery visits will introduce you to a different exhibition and venue each week and offer you the opportunity to engage with the work of local, national and international artists who employ different materials, techniques and stylistic approaches.
Details of each week’s visit (in and out of Belfast) will be distributed before the first meeting. Class members are responsible for their own transport arrangements and costs to and from each venue.

This series of ART NOW will include visits to see exhibitions by Martin Gale and Jack Pakenham at the Sea Holly Gallery, Belfast; Mark McGarry at The MAC; China Exchange artworks at Belfast Exposed; Andrew Butler at the Island Arts Centre and Sharon Adams at R-Space, Lisburn; Ursula Burke at the Ulster Museum and exhibitions at The Golden Thread Gallery in Belfast and the F. E. McWilliam Gallery, Banbridge.

Arts Council of Northern Ireland: Recent Acquisitions
“An exhibition drawn from the Collection of the Arts Council of Northern Ireland. Many of the artists in the Collection have national and international reputations. The works in this exhibition will include some of the best examples of contemporary art by N.I. artists. The artworks have been created by both emerging and established artists and the exhibition will include photographic work, painting, printmaking and silver.”

ART IN LONDON June 2020
A major Andy Warhol retrospective will be showing at Tate Modern and an important exhibition on Artemisia Gentileschi will be at the National Gallery. Other shows include Steve McQueen and Marina Abramovic at Tate Modern and Lynette Yiadom-Boakye at Tate Britain
ART IN LIVERPOOL late August/early September 2020
The 11th Liverpool Biennal runs from 11th July-25th October 2020. This year the theme is The Stomach and the Port with work by international artists presented in locations across Liverpool, including public spaces, historic sites and the city’s leading art venues: Bluecoat, Liverpool Central Library, Cotton Exchange Building, Exchange Flags, FACT, National Museums Liverpool, Open Eye Gallery, St George's Hall, Tate Liverpool and Victoria Gallery & Museum. New for 2020, Liverpool Biennial’s reach will also expand to the city’s historic Fabric District.
A visit to the Lady Lever Art Gallery, Port Sunlight is another possible idea.
